There is a saying that we are what we eat. And according to Mr. Yong Zhi Foo and his collegues, that is a good thing for those who want to seem more attractive. According to their research, Caucasian males who have a more red and yellow skin tone are 50% more likely to be precieved as attractive. Thus, eating foods that gives skin pigments a slightly more red/yellow color can enhance your phyiscal appeal!

How is this done? Well firstly, skin color is an indication of health. Someone with a skin tone too yellowish and dull is more likely to be perceived as sickly, for example. So if we eat foods that contain beta-carotene, we can slightly alter the pigmentation of our skin tones. Beta-carotene is the pigment that gives carrots and other fruits and vegetables their strong color. Thus eating foods or supplements that contain this pigment will increase the overall red/yellow tones of the skin, though it does not change how light and dark it is.

Although the pigment does not cause any bodily changes health-wise, women were seen to choose those with the slight alteration of skin tone more by 50%. This research reaffirms that what we eat can impact how we look.
