Sleeping difficulties in children with adhd

Sleeping difficulties have been recognized as an issue among some children with ADHD. Lack of sleep leads to children having difficulty in focusing and providing attention when needed which may cause a long-term effect on their quality of life.

A study has been conducted to measure the children’s sleep-related behaviours, ADHD symptoms and their daily functioning. Results in this shown that children with ADHD indeed struggle with sleeping difficulties which includes excessive daytime sleepiness which causes significant contribution to problems in their daily functioning and overall quality of life.

Do not overlook sleep difficulties in your children and it must be managed appropriately especially in children with ADHD. Failure to do so may undermine a child’s daily functioning even when the symptoms of ADHD has been effectively taken care of.
