Have you ever experienced being ‘in the zone’, unaware of your surroundings and just enjoying what you are attending to? That’s being in a state of flow. Being into the flow, one has to stay away from distractions that would disrupt the experience and the first step in doing so would be to dump your smartphone aside.

However, a balance of skills and the issues being handled have to be of equal level for the flow to be induced. When the task on hand is of a higher challenge level, one might experience feeling of anxiety or stressed and that becomes a distraction in the flow experience.

Students were found to enjoy experience flow in a team as compared to experiencing it alone.

Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, the father of flow shared the secret to happiness through the work of flow in one of TED’s talk.
