There are many possible causes for the initiation of suicidal thoughts, and what comes in essential at this point, is the confidence that their presence makes a difference.

There are a couple of symptoms of people who experience suicidal thoughts, such as, loss of appetite, sleep, depression or under the influence of drug or alcohol abuse.

Here are some things that you could do, to help a suicidal loved one :

DO speak up. If someone admits that they are depressed and hopeless, ask if they are having suicidal thoughts.

DON’T act shocked or freak out, at least not if you want them to come back to you for assistance.

DO assess what they need

DO get help.

DON’T let them swear you to secrecy.

DO ask them what they need.

DON’T argue with them about their feelings.

DO visit often and follow up on their progress with treatment.

DON’T blame yourself.
