MALAYSIA - A mental health test on couples intending to get hitched is seen as the best way to reduce domestic violence.
Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim said as such, the ministry had no objection discussing with the health ministry on the best method to implement the proposal.
"This is a good proposal as there are couples with a history of mental illness, but the matter is not given attention due to love."
"If deemed suitable, the mental health test can be implemented along the line of HIV screenings for those about to wed."
