Do you spend hours looking through your life trying to figure out why you feel anxious and you are filled with dread?

Waking up with anxietyWaking up to anxiety is a difficult thing to live with. People often get confused thinking that the anxiety must have some source in the present. They connect to the thoughts that go with the anxiety and look for a source of the anxiety.

This type of anxiety often has different sources. It has sources that aren’t necessarily connected to the present, but maybe more related to how you developed as a child. It may have sources in terms of a complex developed mental trauma or dramatic incidents or issues that were a part of your development as a child or an adolescent. Some people are so overwhelmed by this anxiety that they may choose to engage in compulsive behavior such as eating, drinking, shopping, exercising or masturbation.

If this anxiety flares during stressful period it can make work even more difficult. You often find that you lack motivation to go to work, you are paralyzed to focus on your work because of the anxiety. The anxiety can pull you into yourself and isolate you from friends, family and loved ones. The anxiety may be so overwhelming that you find yourself lashing out at people you love and careful. It can be very isolating and debilitating. It can come and go with no rhyme or reason.
