The (New!) Comparison of Psychology Bachelor Degree programs in Singapore

Published on May 19, 2014

This was originally posted on my blog SG Psych Stuff on 27 March 2014, and was requested to be reposted here. You may read my other 100+ posts on my blog as well.

This is a revised and updated version of the post I did 2.5 years back: Comparison of Bachelor Degree programs in Singapore. I thought of revising that post every few months or year, but as it is quite a messy project, hence having a whole new revision made more sense. So here goes:

Programs are categorised into country of origin: Singaporean / Australian / UK / American, with their respective PEIs (Private Education Institutes) mentioned beside them. The overseas programs provided by the respective PEIs are as permitted by the CPE (as of 27 March 2014). Note: There is no affiliation or advertisement or endorsement by SGPsychStuff towards any of the institutions. PEIs are mentioned just for the ease of further research for interested students.
Factors that would be looked at are: (a) (Proposed) Duration of program,  (b) Majors: (Psychology or with other majors offered), and (c) Inclusion of honours (Yes/No/Extendable with 1 extra year).
Cost of the program will not be looked at as that is information that may not be readily available to the public, and the cost may change with time and period hence not a fixed amount. If you wish to find out more about the cost, please contact the school.

Singaporean degrees: (further local comparison)
NUS : (a) (Proposed) Duration of program: 3 years; (b) Majors: As single or double majors or as a minor; (c) Inclusion of honours: Extendable with 1 extra year

Edinburgh Napier University / SHRI : (a) (Proposed) Duration of program: 1 year (Part-time) - Top-up Honours*; (b) Majors: Human Resource Management with Organisational Psychology; (c) Inclusion of honours: No
* Note: Top-up Honours indicates that this is a top-up program from their existing diploma programs, hence the short duration.

American degrees:
University at Buffalo / SIM : (a) (Proposed) Duration of program: 3 years (Full-time for single major) or 4 years (Full-time for double majors); (b) Majors: As single major or double majors with Communication, Sociology, Business Administration, International Trade, or Economics; (c) Inclusion of honours: Yes
Oklahoma City University / MDIS : (a) (Proposed) Duration of program: 1.5 years (Full-time and Part-time);  (b) Majors: As single major, and (c) Inclusion of honours: No

Even though these programs are permitted by CPE, do make sure you read this post about accreditation of overseas programs as well. You may also wish to consider these factors when considering the institutions.

Please note that any differences in the proposed duration could be a result of exemptions of your earlier (relevant) studies, e.g. diploma. If there is any errors or changes or updates to the above information, please contact me below or at sgpsychstud@gmail.com and I will update the changes. (The author of the blog will not be responsible for the errors / changes as they were checked on the posting date.) There may be more degrees available out there, however these are those as found in the CPE website (as of 27 March 2014).
To end off, here is the post for Masters programs in Singapore, if you wish to do your postgraduate studies.
