Rejection By This Parent Does Most Damage To Personality

New research has shown that being rejected by your father has a more profound and long-lasting emotional damage than being rejected by your mother. Even though rejection by either parent is detrimental for the child’s well-being, fathers often have higher power and children may therefore take the rejection harder.

Research over the years has shown that children and adults tend to respond the same way regardless of their race and gender when they perceived themselves to be rejected by their caregivers. They may become more nervous and insecure. Also, they are likely to become more aggressive towards others.

Being rejected can cast a negative shadow over the child’s psychological well-being and often serves to impede the formation of strong and trusting relationships in adulthood. It is also critical to note that unlike physical pain, these people are able to psychologically re-live the emotional pain of rejection over and over for years.

With that being said, the study serves to debunk the belief that mothers are tend to be more responsible for the child’s behavior problems. The fact is, fathers are often more responsible than mothers in the development of such problems.
