Can Stress sometimes prove beneficial?

Adversity could possibly be good for development but it is a person's adaptive responses to life's challenges that are beneficial, not the exposure to adversity itself.

High exposures of stress could definitely cause lasting life consequences. Yet many individuals endure, recover and thrive in the aftermath of devastating events. A few, such as Malala Yousafzai, Stephen Hawking or Oprah Winfrey, even become famous. What distinguishes them?

An individual's resilience is not fixed and could actually fluctuate throughout a individual's life.
exposure to manageable levels of psychological stress can improve future adaptation abilities. It is important to remember, however, that too much adversity can deplete the resources any child or adult needs to muster resilience.

There is evidence that too much stress can have detrimental effects on the body.
