A Supplement that Prevents you from falling into Depression

Researchers have found that probiotics helped people’s rumination. Ruminating refers to one’s focus on bad experiences and feelings. Probiotics is said to help to stop sadness from turning into depression, by helping people to let go of their past.

One of the most predictive vulnerability markers of depression is rumination. Persistent ruminative thoughts often occurs before or serves as a prediction of episode of depression.

The participants were split into two groups. One received sachet of multispecies probiotics for consumption with liquid and the other received a placebo for four weeks. The participants were measured for “cognitive reactivity” which the extent in which a sad mood could result in something more serious.

And the results showed that those with the supplements, tends to perceive themselves as less distracted by aggressive and ruminative thoughts when they are in a sad mood. Since there has been studies that shown that ruminative thoughts alone is sufficient to turn mood fluctuations into depressive episodes.

This could be a preventive measure for depression.
