Dr. Brian Scott is a clinical psychologist based in Singapore with three decades of counseling and psychotherapy experience in helping adults with many kinds of psychological difficulties. These include anxiety, depression, addictions (cybersex, love), and Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (Adult ADHD).
Dr. Scott has worked extensively with adults who experience emotional problems caused by lingering effects of childhood abuse, trauma, or neglect. This condition, now known as Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (Complex PTSD), was formerly referred to as codependence. This condition''s importance is increasingly recognized in adult dysfunctions.
It is important that you feel safe and confident in the counseling situation and Dr. Scott's years of experience and qualifications will help you in this regard.
In addition to specialized procedures to help people with the above, more general approaches are used such as Stress Management, and Positive Psychology. For over three decades, Dr. Scott has practiced and taught various methods of stress management including meditation and yoga. In the early 70’s, he took up transcendental meditation which he practiced twice daily for over ten years.
Dr. Scott has acquired considerable experience in the exciting and relatively new field of Positive Psychology. Positive psychology focuses on strengths, virtues, and positive emotions rather than psychology’s traditional focus on deficits and mental illness. Dr. Scott’s interest in positive psychology began twenty years ago during training with Dr. Benson’s stress management group that included a lot of what now is talked about in positive psychology.
