Student with Special Educational Needs (SEN) refer to student whose educational needs is affected by their Physical Disability, Intellectual Disability, Attention Deficits Hyperactivity Disorder and Autistic Spectrum Disorders or specific learning difficulties.

It is the purpose of this workshop to looks into the common psychiatric disorders in students with SEN, namely Attention Deficits Hyperactivity Disorder and Autistic Spectrum Disorders. Their core features and contemporary management will be discussed.

Course Objective

It is the purpose of this workshop to looks into the common psychiatric disorders in students with SEN, namely Attention Deficits Hyperactivity Disorder and Autistic Spectrum Disorders. Their core features and contemporary management will be discussed.

Course Content

- Overview of Attention Deficits Hyperactivity Disorder and Autistic Spectrum Disorders in DSM-5: its clinical applications and implications.

- Framework of assessment on these two disorders including the use of assessment tools.

- Drug treatment

- Psychological interventions

Dr. Cheung Wai Him 張偉謙醫生

Dr. CHEUNG has more than 20 years experience in assessment and treatment of Mood Disorders and Anxiety Disorders. He also has extensive experience in assessment and treatment of mental health issues in patients with addictions and Intellectual Disabilities.

Dr. CHEUNG is the Clinical Assistant Professor (Honorary) and part-time Lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Honorary Clinical Assistant Professor of the LKS Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong. He also involved in training of social workers and teachers, and delivered talks to public.
