In the rehabilitation context, psychotropic medication continues to be a central element in the care and treatment of people experiencing mental health problems. Mental health practitioners often face these questions and comments in their day to day encounters with clients. This course aims to equip mental health professionals with the basic and common knowledge in medication treatment for mental disorders. It will answer the questions you need to know on psychotropic medications to enhance the efficacy in medication treatment for people suffering from mental disorders and their caregivers.

After graduating from the medical school of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Dr. Chiu began his public psychiatric service. He obtained his psychiatric professional qualification in UK in 1994. Before start his private practicing in May 2007, he had been the Senior Medical Officer of Kwai Chung Hospital for more than 13 years.
Course Objective
1. To have a clear understanding on the treatment of psychiatric Illness and the use of psychotropic drugs in mental disorder treatment
2. To be able to communicate better with clients on the use of psychotropic medications
