Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur

Ten years ago in October 2004, the Institute of Gerontology, UPM organized the first National Conference on Ageing with the theme “Bridging Research, Policy and Practice”. The event at the Summit Hotel, Subang was attended by over 150 participants – a mix of academicians, researchers, policymakers and social workers.

The Institute of Gerontology (IG), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (MWFCD) and the Ministry of Health (MOH), is organizing a two-day National Conference on Ageing (NCA2014) in conjunction with the 2014 National Day of Older Persons. The theme for NCA2014 is "Bridging Research, Policy & Practice: 10 Years After", sharing research and development findings as well as best practices from the past decade.

The event at Vistana Kuala Lumpur Titiwangsa will be attended by gerontologists and geriatricians, including academicians, medical doctors, allied health professionals, policymakers, researchers, social workers and other key stakeholders from public, private and civil society sectors. The conference will feature keynote and plenary papers by international and national experts, as well as oral and poster presentations, interactive Q&A sessions and a special forum to discuss the state of ageing in Malaysia.
