Public Psychiatric Services in Hong Kong

This talk will give a brief introduction to the public psychiatric services in Hong Kong, including in-patient and out-patient services. Ways of getting access to psychiatric and psychological services in the public sector will be discussed.

Dr Gordon Wong MBBS (HK), MRCPsych, FHKAM(Psychiatry), FHKCPsych, MSocSc(Couns)(South Australia)

Dr Gordon Wong spent his formative years in the United Kingdom. He then returned to Hong Kong to study medical school at the University of Hong Kong. He has over fifteen years of experience in treating a spectrum of mental health issues of all ages. He recently joined private practice, and strives to provide a safe and supportive environment for optimising the mind. He is interested in various methods of psychotherapies. He received training in cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy, and hypnotherapy. He also holds a Masters degree in Counselling Studies. On a personal note, Dr Wong enjoys hiking, cinema and learning languages. He has learned Spanish and German for a few years, and is now a beginner in learning Japanese.
