Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy Module 1 & 2 6 Day Teacher Training

This 6-day intensive training workshop is for professionals keenly interested in bringing Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) into their lives and work. This structure is intended to reflect the integration of personal practice and professional work that is essential for people teaching MBCT. This workshop will offer you the opportunity both to experience the content of MBCT classes, and to practice teaching it to one another under the supervision of the trainers. Attending this training is also the first step towards the MBCT Teacher training pathway. There will be periods of silent practice during which participants are asked to refrain from all speech with each other, or by phone with those outside of the
workshop.


Objectives

- seamless cultivation of mindfulness throughout the workshop, through formal and informal practices, both in silence and in conversation

- outline of the development of MBCT and the theory that underpins it

- mindful approaches to the experience and expression of difficult emotions within ourselves and in others

-practicing foundational skills for teaching MBCT

- experiencing mindfulness meditation practice and self-inquiry to understand the importance of being a practitioner before starting to work with mindfulness


Trainer: ANTONIA SUMBUNDU

Antonia is a clinical psychologist who specialises in cognitive behaviour therapy and supervision. She holds a Master’s degree in MBCT from the University of Oxford and is an Associate of the Oxford Mindfulness Centre. In addition to leading MBCT training programs and supervising professionals in MBCT, she has often taught MBCT classes as parts of various clinical trials or research projects. For the past 30 years she has studied closely with profoundly accomplished and renowned teachers from both the Insight Meditation and Tibetan Buddhist traditions.



Trainer: EE LIN ONG

Ee Lin is a psychologist who also has a professional background in life-coaching and social work. She is an OMC Associate and is certified to deliver MBCT through the Oxford Mindfulness Centre, supervised pathway. She has a deep interest in research-based approaches that bring together the strengths of modern science and ancient wisdom, to help alleviate suffering and promote well-being. Locally, she has delivered public talks and workshops at the Singapore Mental Health Conference, conducted mindfulness workshops for school counsellors, staff and students, MBCT workshops for the community, people with depression and anxiety, and professionals, and in the hospital setting. She was instrumental in bringing MBCT training by OMC to Singapore in 2010 alongside Shan You Counselling Centre. She continues supporting the growth of mindfulness and MBCT in Singapore and in regions such as New Zealand and Australia. She also mentors new facilitators in the Oceania region.
