About Mindfulness
Mindfulness trains one to focus on what is happening in the here-and-now with an inviting intention and openness to experiences as they truly are. This allows one to nurture freedom in responding gently rather than reacting automatically to life events. Mindfulness has been associated with improvements in physical, psychological and emotional health as well as a measurably higher quality of life.
About MBCT
MBCT integrates mindfulness meditation techniques with elements of cognitive therapy. Research has shown that it is a cost-effective approach to reduce relapses in people who have past episodes of depression. The National Health Service (NHS) , UK recognises MBCT as an effective intervention for depression. It has been recommended for people with chronic fatigue, health anxiety, eating disorders, and recurrent depression.
Trainer Profile
Ms Ong Ee Lin, MSc (Psych), has been certified to deliver MBCT via the supervised pathway under the University of Oxford Mindfulness Centre (OMC), UK and is a Shan You and OMC Associate. She has an interest in research-based approaches that bring together the strengths of modern science and ancient wisdom to help alleviate suffering and promote well-being in everyone.
An apprentice teacher will also participate in this programme as part of the formal training.
